Certainty is at the dark heart of today’s divisions. The danger is not only that some people take a Manichean view of life—the absolute expression of us and them—but that they are certain, absolutely, resolutely certain, that they are right in that view. On every side there are people convinced not only that their opponents are irremediably wicked but also that they cannot be wrong, even slightly, in that conviction.
Co-creation, at least in my understanding, embraces uncertainty as it embraces people, diversity and life itself. These are elements of reality, as evident and irresistible as night and day. Co-creation invites me not just to accept mutability and ambiguity, but to find joy in the discoveries they bring and the lessons they offer me.
Is uncertainty a bad thing? Only if I make it so.
